Effective cure for hives

Hives is an allergy from which many people nowadays are suffering. It can be very discomforting at times and itchiness may prove to be a headache.

In most cases it is very difficult to tell what causes the hives but it is a sure that hives is caused by one of these factors: animal dander, medication, bee sting, extreme hot or cold weather, emotional stress and pollen.

There are many treatments to cure hives. The type of treatment that a doctor chooses depends upon the condition of the patient. Mostly the doctors prescribe antihistamines to patients as a hives treatment. This really helps the patient to feel a little more comfortable. In the short run, it makes the itchiness to go away and in the long run it cures the hives. The major side effect of taking antihistamines is that at times it causes severe drowsiness which makes it really hard for people to concentrate on their routine work. There is also calamine lotion available in the market which is applied to the effected area to make itching go away but the only problem with using this lotion is that it is suitable for more common hives and may not be very effective for rare hives like chronic hive. Cat’s claw is a herb which is also very effective for treating hives. It helps to reduce inflammation on the skin.

Herbal tea can also reduce the swelling to a certain extent. In any case, herbal tea is a good substitute for coffee or normal tea as it contains antioxidant. Green tea can also serve the same purpose. Intake of high amount of Vitamin D is also very beneficial for the skin. This vitamin can easily be achieved from sun, so sun bath may also be helpful in curing hives to a certain degree. Vitamin C is very beneficial for the body so its intake may be a good thing for the patient suffering from hives. There is also Aloe Vera gel which when applied to the affected area reduces itchiness. We can also massage the parts of body affected by hives with oil of either peanut or Vitamin E to reduce the allergy. Use of ice packs will also reduce the swelling to a reasonable extent but these can not cure the hives, their only purpose is to make life a little more comforting for us.

An important cause of hives is the undue stress and tension that people take in their routine lives so the cure of the allergy is also included in the cause. Once a person says good bye to anxiety and tension he will notice a considerable change because then he will not be affected by hives as often as he was used to before.

So any body who is suffering from hives should immediately contact the doctor.  The important thing is not to try any treatment of your own accord because a doctor is an expert in the field and knows what is best for you what is not.
