SEQUENCE OF TENSES IN SENTENCES WITH DOUBLE CLAUSES
The tense of the first verb usually governs the tense of the second verb.
Notice that when the main part of the
sentence is in the past perfect, the second part is in the simple past.
Also remember that when the main part of the sentence
is in the future, the second part is in the present.

perfect Present perfect :

- The
students have studied so hard since they have been visited by the director.
4 ) Present
perfect simple past :
Examples :

been sick since she arrived.
- Betty has
learned many new words since she started school.
5 ) Simple
past simple past :

- We waited
here until the mayor came.
- The boys
stood under the tree when it started to rain.
6 ) Past
perfect Simple past :

7 ) Past
progressive Simple past :

- The
